BELLING THE CAT

There was once a family of mice who lived happily in a small house in a small country. One day cat moved in. He was silent and quick as he moved about looking for mice his food.
The mice called an emergency meeting. The old mouse was the first speak, “ The main problem is that cat is quiet. If we can hear him coming, we will have time to escape.”
The room was silent as they began to think. A young mouse suggested, “ I know what we can do ! We can tie a bell with a piece of ribbon and hang it around the cat’s neck. That way,whenever cat is near, we will hear the bell and can for cover.”
“ Well done! That’s a clever idea!” The other mice agreed.
The old mouse,however did not join the cheering. “ And who among you,may I ask,are brave enough to put this bell aroud the Cat’s neck?” he asked.
Once more, the room was silent.

BEL KUCING



Ada sebuah keluarga tikus yang hidup bahagia di sebuah rumah kecil di sebuah negeri. Suatu hati kucing pindah ke sana. Dengan cepat dan perlahan-lahan ia mencari tikus sebagai makanannya.
Tikus mengadakan pertemuan darurat. Tikus tua berbicara pertama, “ Masalah utama adalah kucing itu diam. Jika kita dapat mendengar dia dating,kita dapat melarikan diri.”
Ruangan menjadi sunyisaat tikus mulai berpikir. Seorang tikus muda berpendapat, “Aku tahu apa yang dapat kita lakukan. Kita dapat mengalungkan bell dengan selembar pita di sekitar leher kucing. Kemudian ketika kucing mendekat, kita dapat berlari untuk berlindung.”
Bagaimanapun tikus tua tigak bergabung , “ Aku bertanya, siapa yang cukup berani untuk memasang bel di leher kucing?” tanyanya.
Sekali lagi ruangan menjadi sunyi.
