Most of this particles or meteors are smaller than a grain of rice.

Some meteors survive their fall through the earth’s atmosphere and land on the ground. There are called meteorites, and are usually cool enough to touch when they land. READING 3 FOR QUESTIONS 171 – 175.
Just hearing the name Vedic was enough to frighten the criminal in Paris, France, in early 1800s. They knew that once the great detective was on their trail they were certain to be caught. Hanya mendengar nama Vedic cukup membuat takut pelaku criminal di Paris Perancis di awal 1800. Mereka mengetahui bhw suatu ketika detektif yg hebat berada di suatu tempat mereka dipastikan ditangkap.
Francois Eugene Vedic was clever at solving strange crimes. He often wore disguises. Then he could mingle with criminals without being noticed. By mixing with robbers, he often gathered the facts he needed to catch them. For one case he would dress as a cruel, hard nosed man. For another case he would appear as a raggedy old person. FEV pandai memecahkan masalah tindak kejahatan yg aneh. Dia sering melakukan penyamaran.
As a young man Vedic was himself as a prisoner. He learned a lot of about the habits of criminals. When he became a detective, Vedic remembered that criminals often repeat their methods. So he inaugurated (melantik) a new way for keeping files on criminals. Police now use this system throughout the world. Sebagai orang laki laki muda Vedic sendiri seperti seorang narapidana. Ia berlajar banyak ttg kebiasaan para penjahat. Ketika ia menjadi detektif, Vedic mengingat bhw penjahat sering mengulang cara cara mereka. Maka ia melantik/membuka suatu cara baru untuk menyimpan file file para penjahat. Polisi sekarang menggunakan sistim ini diseluruh dunia.
During his years as a detective, Vedic was responsible for the arrest of at least 20,000 criminals. Once Vedic was sent to raid a den of robbers. An official insisted the operation would take 1,000 members of the police force. Selama masa waktunya sebagai seorang detektif, Vedic bertanggung jawab atas penahatan kurang lebih 20.000 penjahat. Pd suatu ketika Vedic dikirim untuk menggrebek sarang perampok. Seorang pejabat meminta dg tegas /menuntut/mendesak operasi tsb akan menggunakan 1000 anggota angkatan kepolisian.
“I shall need only eight!” declared Vedic. As the eight police officers waited outside, Vedic entered the room where the thieves were meeting and shouted, “I am Vedic!”. At the sound of his name, the robbers dropped their knives and lined up. Saya hanya akan memerlukan 8 anggota, Vedic menyatakan. Selagi 8 anggota polisi menunggu diluar, Vedic memasuki ruangan dimana para pencuri sedang melakukan pertemuan, dan berteriak, Saya Vedic. Begitu terdengar namanya disuarakan, para perampok menjatuhkan pisau mereka dan antri.

READING 4 FOR QUESTIONS 176 – 180.  COMBUSTION/PEMBAKARAN.
Do you know why it is dangerous to leave paint rags piled in a corner? The rags can catch fire without being near a match. The fire starts when the oxygen in the air mixes with chemicals on the paint rags. The heat given off by the pile of rags is not able to escape as fast as it is made. So the temperature rises higher and higher until a fire starts. This set of actions is called spontaneous combustion. Other things can also burst into flame “spontaneously” of by themselves, in places such as a damp of haystacks or the hold of coal carrying ships. Tahukah anda mengapa berbahaya meninggal kan kain lap cat teronggok di sudut? Kain lap dpt menangkap api tanpa didekatkan korek api.
Many series fire happen because of spontaneous combustion. But most fire start from a source of heat, such as match. When a match on fire the combustion, or burning start with a chemical reaction, just as in spontaneous combustion. But this time the fire doesn’t begin by itself. Something called friction starts it. (When the match tip is rubbed against a rough surface, friction heats the tip so that burning begins.) The very hot flame breaks down the chemicals on the match tip, and oxygen is released. The oxygen keeps combining with the chemicals to keep the tip burning. Then the flame is hot enough to burn the rest of the matchstick.
Oxygen menjaga gabungan dg bahan kimia utk menjaga ujung tsb terbakar. Kemudian api cukup panas untuk membakar sisa tangkai korek.
