II. READING COMPREHENSION. ( Read this passage to answer no 31 – 32 )
            Scientist and doctors say that about 34 million Americans are too fat. Why is this? One cause is the kind of food American like ‘fast food’. These fast foods (such as hamburger and ice cream) often have fattening things in them. Another cause is the way Americans eat. They often eat little snacks between regular meals. These extra food add extra fat on the body. A third cause is not enough exercise. Americans like driving everywhere, instead of (selain itu, sebagai gantinya) walking. They often have machines to do a lot of work. Some Americans are also too heavy because of health problems. But for most of those 34 million Americans, the problems are the American lifestyle.

Salah satu penyebabnya adalah jenis makanan orang America seperti makanan cepat saji. Makanan cepat saji ini (seperti hamburger dan es krim) sering memeiliki benda benda penggemuk didalamanya. Penyebab lain adalah cara makan orang amerika. Mereka sering makin makanan kecil diantara makanan yg rutin/biasa. Makanan tambahan ini menambah lemak pd tubuhnya. Penyebab yg ke 3 tidak cukup berolah raga. Orang amerika suka mengendarai mobil kemana mana, sebagai gantinya berjalan. Mereka sering memiliki  mesin mesin untuk melakukan banyak pekerjaan. Banyak orang amerika juga terlalu berat karena masalah kesehatan. Tetapi untuk sbg besar daripada 34 juta orang America itu, masalahnya adalah gaya hidup orang amerika.

Ini disebabkan oleh kenyataan bhw mereka kurang berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan fisik, menghabiskan sedikit waktu untuk membaca, belajar, dan melihat dunia kekerasan yg dpt mempengaruhi perasaan keamanan mereka sendiri.
