TIMUN MAS

Once upon a time, there was lived s farmer couple. There were staying in a village near a forest. They lived happily but, they hadn’t had any children yet.
Every day they went to the mount. They prayed to God for a child. One day, a giant heard what they were praying. The giant went down from the mountain and meet them. They looked surprise. And then giant gave them a cucumber seed. The giant explained them about the cucumber seed. They must plant the seed and so they would get a daughter. But in one condition, in her 17th birthday, they must give her to the giant. The couple wanted a child so much and they agreed.
The couple planted the cucumber seed. Everyday they took care the growing plant so carefully. A few months later, a golden cucumber grew from the plant. When it was ripe, they picked it. They cut out the golden cucumber carefully, and how surprised were they when they found a beautiful baby inside. They were so happy. They named the baby Timun Mas.
Timun Mas had grown into a beautiful girl. Her parents were proud of her. But their happiness turned to fear when her 17th birthday came. The giant returned to ask for their promise. He was going to take Timun Mas away.
The farmer tried to be calm. "Just a moment, please. Timun Mas is playing. My wife will call her,"he said. Then the farmer came ti hos daughter. "My daughter, take this. This will help you from the giant. Now, run as fast as you can," he ordered and gave her a little bag to Timun Mas. So she ran away. The couple was very sad about her leaving. But they didn’t want the giant to eat Timun Mas.
Meanwhile, the giant had been waiting too long. He became angry. Somehow he knew that the couple had lied to him. So he destroyed their house and ran for Timun Mas.
The giant was chasing Timun Mas and he was getting close and closer. Timun Mas then took a handful of salt from her bag. She spread out the salt behind her. Suddenly a wide sea appears between them. The giant had to swim to reach her.

Timun Mas still running, but now the giant almost caught her. Then she took some chilly and threw them to the giant. The chilly suddenly grew into some trees and trapped the giant. Timun Mas could escape again.
But the giant was very strong. Again he almost caught Timun Mas. She threw the cucumber seed and they became a wide cucumber field. The giant was very tired and hungry so he ate those fresh cucumbers. He ate too much that he felt sleepy and sleep soon.
Timun Mas kept on running but she was very tired. The giant had woked up. Timun Mas scared. Desperately she then threw her last weapon, terasi. It did a miracle again. It became a big swamp. The giant fell into it but his hands almost reach Timun Mas. Suddenly the lake pulled him to the bottom. The giant panicked and he couldn’t breathe. At last he was drown.
Timun Mas was very relieveable. She was safe now. Then she returned to her parent’s. Her parents were of course very happy to see her daughter safe. And then, Timun Mas lived happily with her parents.



































TIMUN MAS
Suatu kali, hiduplah sepasang suami istri petani. Mereka tinggal di sebuah desa di dekat hutan. Mereka hidup bahagia, tetapi mereka belum memiliki anak.
Setiap hari mereka pergi ke gunung . Mereka berdoa kepada Tuhan memohon agar dikaruniai anak. Suatu hari raksasa mendengar doa mereka. Ia turun dari gunung dan menemui mereka. Mereka terkejut. Lalu ia memberi mereka biji mentimun. . Ia menjelaskan tentang biji mentimun itu. Mereka harus menanam biji itu dan mereka akan mendapatkan anak. Tetapi ada syaratnya. Pada usia 17 tahun anak itu harus diserahkan kepada raksasa. Suami istri itu sangat merindukan seorang anak. Mereka setuju.
Mereka menanam biji mentimun itu. Setiap hari mereka merawat tanaman yang mulai tumbuh itu dengan sebaik mungkin. Beberapa bulan kemudian tumbuhlah sebuah timun keemasan. Ketika sudah masak, mereka memetiknya dan dengan hati-hati mereka membelah buah itu. Betapa terkejutnya mereka, di dalamnya ada seorang bayi perempuan yang sangat cantik. Mereka sangat bahagia. Mereka menamai bayi itu Timun Mas.
Timun mas tumbuh menjadi gadis yang cantik. Kedua orangtuanya sangat bangga kepadanya. Tapi mereka menjadi sangat takut, karena pada hari ulang tahunnya yang ke-17, raksasa datang kembali. Ia menagih janji untuk mengambil Timun Mas.
Petani itu mencoba tenang. "tunggu sebentar, Timun Mas sedang bermain, istriku akan memanggilkannya."katanya. petani itu segera menemui anaknya."Anakku, ambillah ini. Ini akan menolongmu untuk melawan raksasa. Sekarang larilah secepat mungkin,"katanya dan memberikannya sebuah kantung. Maka Timun Mas pun segera melarikan diri. Mereka sangat sedih akan kepergian Timun Mas akan tetapi mereka tidak rela kalau raksasa memakan Timun Mas.
Raksasa menunggu cukup lama. Ia menjadi marah. Ia tahu telah dibohongi mereka. Lalu ia menghancurkan rumah mereka dan lari mengejar Timun Mas.
Raksasa segera lari mengejar Timun Mas. Ia semakin dekat. Timun Mas mengambil segenggam garam dan menebarkannya kea rah raksasa. Tiba-tiba laut luas pun terhampar. Raksasa terpaksa berenang susah payah.
Timun Mas lari lagi. Tapi kemudian raksasa hampir berhasil menyusulnya. Lau Timun Mas mengambil segenggam cabai dari kantungnya. Dan dilemparkannya kea rah raksasa. Seketika pohon dan ranting durinya yang tajam memerangkap raksasa. Timun Mas berlari menyelamatkan diri.
Tapi raksasa sangat kuat. Ia lagi-lagi hampir menangkap Timun Mas. Maka Timun Mas mengeluarkan biji mentimun. Dan ia menebarkannya. Seketika tumbuhlah kebun mentimun yang sangat luas. Raksasa sangat letih dan kelaparan. Ia pun makan mentimun segar. Karena terlalu banyak makan, raksasa mengantuk dan tidur kemudian.
Timun Mas kembali melarikan diri. Ia berlari sekuat tenaga. Ia sangat lelah. Raksasa bangun dari tidurnya dan hampir menangkapnya. Timun Mas sangat ketakutan. Ia lalu melemparkan terasi. Ajaib, sebuah danau Lumpur yang luas terhampar. Raksasa terjerembab ke dalammya. Tangannya hampir menggapai Timun Mas. Tapi danau Lumpur itu menariknya ke dalam. Raksasa itu panik. Ia tak bias bernafas, lalu tenggelam.
Timun Mas lega, ia selamat. Ia pulang ke tempat orangtuanya. Orangtua Timun Mas bahagia karena anaknya selamat. Akhirnya mereka hidup bahagia.
