Last week was a hectic week. I have been touring East Java and Bali. There were so many things that I've experienced that it's difficult to write about all of them.
I arrived in Yogyakarta, on Sunday. I stayed in a cheap accommodation, a wisma. The room was clean and I could get hot water to bathe. On Monday, I went with a tour group to visit Borobudur and the Hindu temples in Prambanan. Some of these temples are more than twelve hundred years old. They date well beyond the churches in my home town in Europe, I was amazed at the enormity of the construction. I'm sure they did not have the heavy machines we have today to raise and lay those huge blocks of stone. The carvings on the walls were another feature of the construction.
I'm getting used to the spicy food served here. I have eaten fresh fish, lamb and beef. I know you don't eat all this but I've got used to it. On Tuesday 1 decided to go for a hike to Mount Merapi. But I found out that it was a difficult climb. So 1 went to the forest park in Kaliurang. That was a lovely walk that made me hot and tired. But I managed to cool off in a waterfall in the park then walked up to a hill nearby where I could see the smoky, fiery Mount Merapi.

Human body is made up of countless million of cells. Food is needed to build up new cells and replace the worn out. However, the food we take must be changed into substances that can be carried in the blood to the places where they are needed. This process is called digestion.
The first digestive process takes place in the mouth. The food we eat is broken up into small pieces by the action of teeth, mixed with saliva containing digestive juices which moisten the food, so that it can be swallowed easily.
From the mouth, food passes through the esophagus–the food passage–into the stomach. Here the food is mixed with the juices secreted by the cells in the stomach for several hours. Then the food enters the small intestine, All the time the muscular wall of intestine are squeezing, mixing and moving the food onwards.
In a few hours, the food changes into acids. The acids are soon absorbed by the villi (microscopic branch projection from the intestine walls) and passed into bloodstream.

I'm sure you know what the meaning of corruption is. Well, corruption is common everywhere in the world, even in the CS. It's just a matter of the intensity, however, that makes Jakarta the most corrupt place in Indonesia.
The survey makes me sad, actually, because I stay and earn a living here in the capital. As we all know in the Tanjung Priok Port, smuggling is no news at all in this town. Businessmen who want to minimize their tax payments will bribe the officials.
Well, I think the measures taken to overcome the problem by punishing the corruptors have been far from enough. We have to prevent the younger generations from the bad mentality.
I believe we can start at the earliest stage in school and I think everyone should be involved in an effort to eradicate corruption. We must not make any distinctions.

This passage is for questions 37 to 41.
Capital punishment is one of the most controversial subjects to be discussed today. This controversy is caused by so many things all over the world having so many different view about it. Capital punishment happens when someone is put to death for a crime, for example murder or drug trafficking. Many people think capital punishment should be reinstated in Britain, but there are just as many people who think that the criminal system is better the way it is.
One important argument against the death penalty is that sometimes an innocent person is put to death. If capital punishment is used, the authorities must therefore have evidence beyond the shadow of any doubt that they have accused the correct person. Furthermore, capital punishment removes all possibility for a person who has done something seriously wrong to be able to change and to be rehabilitated.
Another strong point against capital punishment is that two wrongs do not make a right. Killing a victim, for instance, and then being sentenced to death does not suddenly make everything all right or make things better. A poor, helpless victim's life has been stolen from him, but killing the murderer will not bring the victim back.
Nevertheless, those who are in favor of the death penalty have many points with which to justify their stance. Most importantly it punishes the criminal by doing to him what he did to others. It acts as a foam of revenge for the victim's family by letting them know that the criminal has felt some of the pain he inflicted on another.
Furthermore, capital punishment could act as a deterrent to anyone whoever thought about committing certain crimes, because he would know that when he was found guilty, the death penalty awaited him. It can also save money because, instead of the criminal being kept in person for the rest of his life, he is killed.
After weighing up the arguments for and against capital punishment, I have come to the conclusion that I am for it, and that it is a pity it was abolished in Britain thirty or so years ago.

One day, a young farm boy named Eragon finds a blue stone while hunting and tries to sell it for money. Unsuccessful in his attempts, he takes the stone back to his cabin and lets it sit there until it hatches into a beautiful blue dragon. Eragon realizes he can talk to this secret pet dragon with his mind, and eventually learns that he and the dragon are part of a legacy of secret heroes called the Riders.
With the help of Brom, a wise man, Eragon matures into his destiny. The challenges he faces include fighting a long-standing war, helping an ethereal elf, and dealing with tragedy and revenge. Certain details, such as Eragon's revelation that he cannot read, develop this rich work and blend together to produce a number of plot twists. The story builds suspense steadily until the end.
Remarkably, author Christopher Paolini began writing Eragon at the age of 15. Now 19, he has already established himself as an exciting new creator whose influence include Tolkien, McCaffrey, and others. His world is intricate, his characters believable, and his writing engaging.
Both casual readers and hardcore fans of fantasy and science fiction novels will be enchanted by this well crafted fantasy and unquestionably will look forward to parts two and three of this exciting trilogy.

Regent's permits add to deforestation : study
Forestry activists have warned of a sharp increase in the national deforestation rate if the government fails to deal with the overlapping permits issued for forest concessions and industrial timber forest.
Greenomics Indonesia's latest study found about 18.4 million hectares of forest concession areas and forest production had mostly been occupied by plantation and mining companies. Thanks to permits issued by regents.
"It is an illegal practice. The regents have no rights to issue permits for plantation companies to operate or occupy forest concessions and industrial area. Only the Forestry of Ministry can do that," Greenomics National Coordinator Vanda Mutia Dewi told the Jakarta Post on Monday.
The government has allocated a total of 60.91 million hectares for forest concession or for production forests.
"With the overlapping permits, illegal occupation of the forest concession areas and industrial forest will contribute more to the national deforestation rate than illegal logging practice," she said.

READING 1.
This art of communication has developed through centuries. The village of Kuskoy spreads our across two hills that separated by a deep valley. The villagers had to find an easy way to communicate where their voices could not carry. They developed a high pitched whistle that could be heard for five miles.
As  a result, Kuskoy, which means “bird village” in Turkish, has come to be known as a whistle paradise.
The whistle form his “ speech “ with the tongue curled around his teeth so the “ words “ are forced through lips that are not rounded in the usual whistling style; they are stretched flat across the face. The palm of the left hand is cupped about the mouth, and the air is forced from the lungs. To someone who has not heard the sound before, it is like the terrifying whistle of a steam locomotive.
Whistling is so much a part of everyday life here that men and women speak, disagree and make love in whistles. A village wise man recently told the story of a young man that eloped. The news was sent over the “mountain telephone” whistle. The lover’s adventure was quickly known. At wedding, the Kuskoy whistle becomes more musical, Kuskoyans “sing” to the melody played on the kemenche, a string instrument.
It is a little wonder, then, that the children of Kusloy study whistling in school. Wouldn’t it be great fun to start the class day with the school song – whistle of course. (source : New York times)

READING 2.BILLIONAIRES: THE RICHES PEOPLE YOU’VE NEVER HEARD OF.
You might think enormous wealth guarantees instant notoriety. It doesn’t.  Some of the world’s riches people manage to stay below the detection of the public despite being worth billions. We are not talking about being flat out unknown among the masses.
Sure, most people know of millionaires like corporate financier Carl Icahn, Hongkong business magnate Li Kashing and Itakian media mogul and former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. But what of Susanne Klatten?Or Brigit Rausing?Or John Sall? They have the kind of money the rest of us can only dream of. And yet here’s betting that you’ve never heard of theme, even if you’re familiar with the companies or products that made them wealthy.
Sall, worth $4.4 billion when Forbes last valued his fortune in September 2007 as part of our annual Forbes 400 rankings, co founded privately held software giant SAS, where he remains executive vice president. Klatten is a member of Germany’s Quant family, which owns a controlling stake in automaker BMW. She also owns 50% of German chemical company Altana. Forbes last estimated her fortune in March  at $9.6 billions as part of our annual billionaire rankings although that was before she received half of the proceeds from Altana’s $6 billions sale of its pharmaceutical business to Nycome last year. And Rausing? She and her three children have a combine fortune of about $11 billions after inheriting ownership of packaging giant Tetra Laval. Never heard of Tetra? Ever slurp down refreshment from a juice box? That’s them.
Sifting through the names of obscure billionaires can invite some surprises. For example, take the case of Peter Buck. No, not the guitarist from REM – this Peter Buck lent family friend $1,000 in 1965 to start a sandwich shop. Today, the result is Subway Restaurants. You’d think that being founder of a fast food giant would gain you some names recognition. But it’s probably safe to say that few  people not name Jared have ever heard of Buck. Much the name could be said about Bradley Hughes. No, not a business that you’ve probably heard of. It has 2,100 locations in 38 states. If you are an incurable pack rat, you might be a customer. Give up? Hughes is the founder and chairman of Public Storage (nyse: PSA
news – people ). Then there is copper mining magnate Vladimir Kim, who cuts an unlikely figure on a lot of different levels. The Guy’s worth a cool %5,5 billions, making him the richest person in the post Soviet
republic outside of Rusia. He is also a lot wealthier than Silicon Valley billionaires Meg Whitman, Jerry Yang and John Doer, despite  the perfumed geographic disadvantage of hailing from Kazakhstan. And Kim is the richest ethnic Korean on the planet, with a fortune that far surpasses even that of Samsung Group Chairman Lee Kun Hee. (Louis Hau, 01.22.08,2:30 PM ET.
